So I’m reading through some folks messages to the troops and I stumbled upon this poor misguided woman’s note:

Today the Iraqi regime is threatening great peril to our forces. We need to remember the history of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. The kingdom of Judah was surrounded by many enemy countries coming in for the kill. The king and people of Judah were afraid because they were outnumbered and helpless. A Levite said, “Do not be afraid, for the battle is not yours but God’s. Trust the LORD your God and you will be established.” So all the people of Judah began SINGING AND PRAISING the LORD for His lovingkindness is everlasting. Then the LORD had the enemy countries attack each other until all the enemies were destroyed. The people of Judah rejoiced because of the LORD’s wondrous power. Then the dread of the living God was on all the surrounding countries and God gave Judah peace on all sides. Today we need to SING THE PRAISES OF OUR LORD BECAUSE THE BATTLE & VICTORY ARE HIS. Have a day of repentance, prayer and great praise as we trust in the LORD’s love.

Now, she’s trying to somehow use this as a way to motivate our troops? Doesn’t it seem like the kingdom of Judah better signifies the kingdom of Iraq? Iraq is surrounded by many enemies, Iraq is outnumbered and helpless, Iraq is singing the praises of the LORD… And this woman thought this story was somehow appropriate? The hyper-religious folk who get so excited about telling a story that they don’t even stop to think that it’s got a completely different point than what they thought. Or something.

Feh. I need an editor.

i have evidence that all of george w. bush’s so-called appearances were actually taped not only prior to the war, but prior to his election. nothing we are seeing is live.

….but the idea of the special forces guys going into Saddam Hospital (go figure) and rescuing Jessica Lynch is just too cool and badass for words. She’s just lying there and all of a sudden, she sees what is undoubtedly the best thing she could ever see: US troops busting down doors….

(war is stupid.)

  • My DSL connection has been up for 840 hours. That’s 35 days without a problem. Nifty!
  • I made pancakes with the sandwich maker. Fantastic. Puffy triangular pancakes. Brilliance! Sheer brilliance!
  • Freelancer is a fantastic game. It’s “Escape Velocity” (by Ambrosia Software) on steroids.
  • ZOE: The 2nd Runner is not all that interesting. Lots of cut scenes, lots of repetitive gameplay. Not much in the way of zip zow zam fun.
  • Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. That’s code! I’m keeping out of trouble. But there is a dark cloud on the horizon. The moonbots dwell in Tulsa and travel to town on Tuesdays. The dark clow flies toward the sun at midnight. You know what I mean.
  • Actually doing some coding and at the same time that I am having to relearn the idea of being on a schedule, it’s fun as hell and nice to get emails of encouragement and praise these past few days. Oh yeah, some folks are relaxed…..
  • Not much else going on in the world. A war? What are you talking about?

“The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing Sunday in the coastal Israeli city of Netanya. A leaflet from the group called the attack, which wounded at least 49 people, ‘a gift to the Iraqi people from Palestine.'”

“Uh, no, really, you shouldn’t have. Can I return this..?”

1) dolphins. dolphins dolphins dolphins.

2) a pink pickup truck with an NYPD bumper sticker on the windshield

3) imagining what Daryn Kagan’s like in bed

4) watching Carol Costello trip over words, interrupt reporters and ask the dumb questions.

5) watching an Iraqi press conference originally given in English, translated into Arabic for Iraqi or Al-Jazeera TV and then re-translated back into English for American television. it’s like a twice-baked potato.

Why is it that CNN is now showing commercials? Has the war gotten less intense?

What happened to all the shots of the….why am I still watching this?

Because if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t know that the US Navy is about to dispatch DOLPHIN FORCE.

They have trained dolphins that will swim around the ports at Umm Qasr to look for mines. I can’t believe the Iraqis think they can beat us when we have harnessed the power of the dolphin.

if it’s unamerican for me to despise this woman, then call me canadian. she is offensive to the very last. not even a trace of objectivity, not a trace of intelligence. how did she get her job? let’s see what we can find out….

Carol Costello won an Emmy. I should be able to win an Emmy.

Please — stop rolling your eyes, and stop asking ridculous questions like, “Why is one called the Old Port and one called the New Port?” You’re even making Anderson Cooper sad and upset, and that’s hard to do.

So there were thousands of protestors in Afghanistan, burning US flags, protesting the war. This in a country where up until recently, the people couldn’t get together for demonstrations like that…. Not until the U.S. went in and installed a new government. There are so many angles on this that it nearly makes my head go ‘pop’.
